Bachelors in Optometry ( BSc Optometry )
Bsc Optometry Optometrists or optometric physicians are primary eye care and health professionals concerned with vision care. They are experts in determining one’s refractive error and prescribing appropriate correction. They deal with vision screening (eye testing), diagnosis of visual problems, orthoptics correction and vision training, optometric counselling of patients with partial sight, color blindness and hereditary vision defects, and designing and fitting of spectacles, contact lens and low vision aids. They also prescribe Vision therapy eye exercises to patients complaining of Visual symptoms such as squint etc.
Bsc Optometry Eligibility
Should have passed the two year Pre University examination conducted by Department of Pre University Education, Karnataka State with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Maths as optional subjects.
Academic Year Commencement
August – September.

Optometry is one of the leading rewarding professions in the country with favorable working hours and minimum emergency calls. India needs approximately 115,000 optometrists. Currently India has approximately 9000 optometrists (four year trained) and 40,000 eye care personnel (two year trained).
An optometrists can:
2.work with ophthalmologists in clinics or hospitals.
3.practice at optical establishments.
4.have excellent job opportunities overseas.
5.offer clinical services to multi-nationals.
For those interested in higher studies, post graduation in the form of fellowships as well as MS and PhD program are now available in the country and abroad.
