FOOD SERVICES MANAGEMENT & DIETETICS (DIP)

HOME MANAGEMENT – It involves planning, purchase, preparation and serving of food and beverages in the hotel dining rooms and coffee shops as well as for room service and banquets.

HOME MANAGEMENT (DIP)

Budgeting of finance, planning for future needs, layout of furniture and acessories etc come under home management.

HOME SCIENCE (CER / DIP)

Earlier term was domestic science.It includes home economics where cookery and other household activities are taught.

INTERIOR DECORATION (DESIGN) (DIP / CER / PGDIP)

Interior designers plan and furnish the interior of private homes, public buidings and commercial establishments such as offices, restaurants, hotels and theatres.With  a client’s tastes and needs in mind, they develop designs and prepare working drawings and specifications for interior constructions,furnishings, lightings and finishing.

MATERNITY & CHILD WELFARE (DIP)

Child welfarel involves promoting the healthy growth and development of children and meet their needs.The main programs for child welfares are health services,such as infant health centers and provision of vaccination and immunization.Maternity welfare includes pre – natal care.

CATERING (DIP / DEG / PGDIP)

Caterers plan, co-ordinate, supervise food service at parties and other social functions.Working along with their clients, they purchase appropriate supplies, plan the menu, and supervise the food preparation,direct the serving of food and refreshments and ensure the overall smooth functioning of the event.As enterpreneurs they are also responsible for budgeting, book keeping and other administrative work.

CHILD CARE (DIP)

The care of a child in a creche or child minder in the temporary absence of parent/gaurdian, or by a local authority when a normal home atmosphere is considered to be lacking.Involves feeding,diapering, comforting and playing and talking with children.

DIETETICS (DIP)

Refers to food service management and nutritional care services.They suggest improvement in selecting food, planning menus, and preparing food to best meet nutritional needs.The application of the principals of nutrition to the choice and use of diet.

The food processing industry is constantly changing and adapting its products to the tastes and needs of its customer.Food processing industry allows us to eat foods that were grown thousands of miles away and produced days and weeks earlier.Food processing prevents food from spoiling as quickly as it would otherwise.It also provides greater convinience, variety, colour, taste and in many cases monetary savings.Food is processed and preserved by cold storage, canning,freezing, drying and most recently by the use of antibiotics and ultraviolet rays.
